Getting Started with Atlas (GIS Maps)

Atlas is QNOPY's first-ever GIS-powered module, designed to enhance your field data with GIS mapping capabilities. This article will walk you through how to get started using Atlas. Unlike its mythological Greek Titan namesake, QNOPY Atlas is not a huge lift!

 

Getting Started

Select Atlas from the product dropdown in the top left of the QNOPY web portal after logging in 

Click on ' + Create New Atlas’ on the top right. One "Altas" is one new map workspace that can later be turned into a variety of exports.

Select a project for which you want to create an Atlas map

All your project locations (wells, points, etc.) will be automatically available on the map

 

Configuring your Atlas Map

To configure an Atlas map follow these steps:

  1. Find the Data Sets icon for field data , or the lab dataset icon  for lab data. 
  2. Add new data set and give it a name
  3. Set your search criteria, including form, event or date range, and more using the following options
  4. Once your dataset is selected, you can begin adding layers by navigating to the layers icon
  5. Click ‘Add Layer’ and then under ‘Layer Type’ choose from one of the options
    1. Drawing Layer – handraw a layer for the map. Choose from arrows, rectangles, freehand, and more.
    2. Data Layer – 
    3. Data Box Layer – Add data boxes to the map. Choose between lab data or field data.
    4. Photo Layer – Show photos taken from the project on the map
    5. Contour Layer – Automatically generate contour line, showcasing groundwater elevation, analytical results, and more. Choose your interval line thickness. Once the contours are created, click on them to edit. Erase sections, change the line to dotted, or any customization you need.
  6. if you have your property boundaries or other aspects of your map already created you can import a KML file with the button in the top right corner.
  7. When all layers are added, ensure the legend is correct by navigating to the legend icon. Check that all layers expected are there and edit as needed.

Further customizability is available with the options in the top right.

  1. Page – change the layout of the Atlas PDF export to different sizes and orientations.
  2. Export – choose to export as a PDF or KML
  3. Share – navigate to the share icon to give other QNOPY users access to your Atlas. From here, click the ‘+ Invite’ button to give others access and choose if they get read or write access.

  4. Settings – By clicking on the settings icon  a user can customize the information that will appear on the header of the PDF as well as the basemap.
